Our Mission

“Delivering financial accountability through a standardized accounting system and strict financial controls, cultivating contributor trust and building confidence in giving".

Nonprofit Accounting

Offering a secure and robust accounting system customized for multi level nonprofit organizations.  Fully GAAP compliant and providing key nonprofit reporting, ClearBlue Solutions puts a standard accounting system in place throughout an entire church denomination or nonprofit entity that allows timely and accurate reporting of monthly receipts from all local collection offices while offering leadership the option of transparency and efficient auditing across the entire organization.  ClearBlue Accounting ties the chart of accounts of the entire organization together with roll-up reporting through all levels to the top organization leadership.

A solid foundation for managing your organization’s finances and cash flow is most effective if it encompasses the breadth of the organization from the bottom to the top reporting layers.  Each local church or collections office can start right away using our ClearBlue BackOffice accounting module to manage the general ledger, payables, receivables, pledges, contributions, etc.  Then we customize our ClearBlue Enterprise module (BackOffice plus chart of accounts management and management reporting) to match your organization’s reporting structure.  Our ClearBlue MemberPort allows contributing members to access their personal accounts online, setup one-time and recurring contributions, and have access to the organization’s member services.  The result is a secure financial management system utilizing one chart of accounts structure that fits your entire organization, allows direct access by contributors, and provides transparency and timely management reporting.

Nonprofit Financial Controls

Sarbanes-Oxley (“SOX”) has been legislated for publicly traded for-profit entities and nonprofits, including churches, may not be far behind.  SOX is ushering in a new era of accountability and transparency where traditionally there has been none opening the doors to fraud and corruption which in the cases of the Enron collapse and Typo scandals cost shareholders untold millions of dollars.  Two requirements for SOX already apply to nonprofits and many in the nonprofit industry recommend implementing as many SOX regulations as is practical for an organization.

Boardsource, formerly the National Center for Nonprofit Boards, has published The Sarbanes-Oxley Act and Implications for Nonprofit Organizations. Here's an excerpt:

While nearly all of the provisions of the bill apply only to publicly traded corporations, the passage of this bill should serve as a wake-up call to the entire nonprofit community. If nonprofit leaders do not ensure effective governance of their organizations, the government may step forward and also regulate nonprofit governance. Indeed, some state attorneys general are already proposing that elements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act be applied to nonprofit organizations.

Nonprofit leaders should look carefully at the provisions of Sarbanes-Oxley and determine whether their organizations ought to voluntarily adopt particular governance practices. This report will review those provisions and assess their relevance to nonprofit organizations.

ClearBlue Solutions is here to help.  We will assist your organization to assess your current operations in light of Sarbanes-Oxley regulations and come up with recommendations for best practices in financial management and collections procedures to safeguard your organization.  We can work with you to educate your board and executive management on the SOX requirements so you can choose to implement as much or as little as your organization needs.
